The prize fund for 2022 is £1,000 split evenly between two competitions.
There will be two independent Victor Ludorum competitions. One for crews participating in Junior races and one for crews participating in Seniors and Masters races. The Explore event will be part of the Senior and Masters Victor Ludorum.
The Victor Ludorum is open to all clubs.
The host Club Hollingworth Lake is not eligible for either of the Victor Ludorum Prizes.
Points are awarded to competing crews at the North of England Sprint Rowing Championships.
Points are awarded to crews winning finals only, not heats, quarter or semi-finals and not the losers final of the Explore event.
Points will not be awarded to crews winning a “row over”.
Points will be awarded on the basis of one point per crew member excluding coxes. For example a single sculler winning will receive one point, a quad scull four points, a coxed four four points and an eight eight points.
Composite crews will have the points allocated on the basis of the proportion of each Club’s members in the crew.
In the event of two or more Club’s having the same number of points, the winning club will be that with the larger number of event wins. If this still results in a tie, the club with most heat, quarter final or semi-final wins, in events it wins, will be declared the VL winner.
Clubs can only win one of the competitions Junior or senior/master. In the event that one club has the most points in both competitions the winning club will be that with the larger number of event wins. If this still results in a tie, the club with most heat, quarter final or semi-final wins, in events it wins, will be declared the VL winner.
Any disputes will be considered by the regatta secretary and a decision to award a Victor Ludorum to any particular Club shall be based upon these rules. However, it is in the gift of the regatta secretary in the spirit of fairness to vary or change in any way whatsoever the criteria for awarding the Victor Ludorum.
