North of England Sprint Rowing Championships

The Annual North of England Sprint Rowing Championships will be held on Hollingworth Lake on the 3rd September 2022. The competition boasts a three lane buoyed course for eights, fours, quads, pairs, doubles and singles in Junior, senior, masters, open, women and mixed events. With ten divisions enabling multiple entries and a full day's racing.

The explore event for up to eight crews using HLRC matched quads will take place during the regatta. 

The competitions will be held under BR Rules of Racing and the BR Row Safe Guide offered in categories – Seniors, Masters and Juniors with no restrictions on fine boat type.  

The most successful Junior and Senior club on the day will return home with The Victor Ludorum Prize of £500


The Club is located on the bank of Hollingworth Lake near Littleborough.  The origins of the club can be traced back to 1872 with the current clubhouse built in 1973. 

The Lakebank Car Park will be closed to the general public  for the regatta and will be made available for the visiting clubs to store their trailers. Towing vehicles and cars will need to be positioned in other nearby Car Parks once the club trailers are in position. The Hollingworth Road and Visitor Centre Car Parks will not be affected and will be available for towing vehicles, competitors and visitors.

Celebrating 150 years of rowing

At a meeting held at Mr Yarwood's Hollingworth Lake Hotel, for the purpose of establishing a rowing club, it was resolved that a rowing club be established at Hollingworth and called, The Hollingworth Lake Amateur Rowing Club.
